What’s included in a hybrid service?

A hybrid car is a vehicle which combines a petrol or diesel engine with an electric motor. There are various different types of hybrid vehicles, such as plug-in hybrids and mild hybrids, and they’re designed with reducing CO2 emissions in mind. But what’s included in a hybrid car service, and how does this differ from a regular service?

What is a hybrid service?

A hybrid car service is a health check of your vehicle which involves routine maintenance. This type of vehicle service is conducted against guidelines from the vehicle manufacturer, whereas a MOT test is assessed against DVSA guidelines.  

There are two types of hybrid services to choose from:

• Interim service – this is typically conducted every 6,000 miles, or after 6 months – whichever is sooner.
• Full service – this type of service is conducted every 12,000 miles, or after 12 months – whichever comes first.

Hybrid car services

A hybrid car service differs from a regular vehicle service because of the components that it tests. A hybrid car service checks everything that a regular car service does, but it also includes some additional elements:

On floor:

• Carry out hybrid/high voltage diagnostics and report any findings             
• Check any high voltage charge ports where applicable                   

On ramp:

• Visually check high voltage cables where possible

Scheduled service tasks:

• Visually check high voltage coolant where possible & report ONLY
